| The Island Vinalhaven Island is Maine's third largest island, its most populous island and home to the world's most productive lobstering fleet. It is located 12 miles off the coast and is accessed by ferry from Rockland. There are 1235 souls who make their permanent home there and many more who spend all or part of their summers there. |
